As you likely know, I coach leaders in family business. Depending what leads someone to seek coaching, often one of my first questions is to ask my clients about their priorities.
What I’ve found through coaching is that people often come to me feeling overloaded and overwhelmed. They are paralyzed by their calendar. They recognize that they aren’t showing up the way they’d like to, whether it’s at work, at home, with family and friends and for themselves. Something is amiss. They are not living by their priorities.
4 Steps to Setting Your Priorities
STEP 1: List your aspirational priorities. How would you ideally like to live your life? (7:10)
STEP 2: Identify how you are currently spending your time. (10:48)
STEP 3: Review. Compare your aspirational priorities and your current living priorities. (12:30)
STEP 4: Take action. Create a personal mission statement and create a no, thank you plan. (16:20)
