Mindset, also referred to as buoyancy or resiliency, speaks to our ability to bounce back. This week’s guest, Dr. Nancy Jonker explains it as, “an invincible sense of how the universe is working for us and our ability to take responsibility for our lives.” Yep, settle in friends, the information in this episode has the potential to change your life.
During our interview, Nancy and I talk a lot about limiting beliefs and how they are actually decisions we make over and over again. (Need a refresher on limiting beliefs? Listen to my Power20 episode on this topic here).
Nancy walks us through the 5 Primary Drivers outlined by David Bayer and illustrated below. Through this cycle, Nancy explains how our beliefs dictate our destiny. Once you understand that your beliefs are decisions, you are empowered to make new and different decisions that better align your goals.
Nancy explains what changing our beliefs and forging new neural pathways looks like in our brains. As we make new decisions to replace our limiting beliefs, we change the filters in our brain and start paying attention to resources, opportunities, and people that are available to us.
To help you get started in this work, Nancy describes a decision matrix that she uses with business leaders all over the world. I hope you set aside some time to try this tool. Tell us about you experience in the comments section below or email me at ellie@
Finally, Nancy and I discuss what it means to approach our lives from a beautiful state of being vs. a suffering state of being. For me, this really underlines the importance of mindset and leadership. We also touch briefly on the incredible power of gratitude.
I am so grateful to Nancy for sharing her time with us and I am also grateful to you for listening. Please enjoy!
